I'm baaack!!

Hi there, boys and girls. I'm actually still alive after all that crazy amount of work I had to do to finish my degree, isn't that just awesome? And so I come back to blogger and find out everything's changed and I have to use a different template for my blog. Well, consider this a fix for now. I might make it look a bit shinier later some time.

The joys about practically having finished my course are that I have TIME. Sweet, precious time, to do what I really want to do.

So, I've been looking back over my Skeleton Duet story and umm... there's a lot of things I'd quite like to change with it, but at the same time I really want to push on and at the same time altogether I feel like I need to go back and get better groundwork before going any further. So as it stands, I'm not quite sure what's going to happen, but my plan for the summer remains to get it done. I've had friends bug me about other stories I started and never went further than a few chapters on, so ASD has to get finished so I can start back up on them.

Hi, I'm alive and stuff

Just wanted to make a quick post to say that I haven't died yet. It's just pretty much my motivation to do anything that has died. The two projects I've been working on that mark the end of my degree really took a dive over the last couple of weeks. Nothing really seemed to be working and my motivation hit an all-time low and I just kinda gave up with everything. Lame and stupid, I know, but I guess I'm one of those pissy creative types who wallow in self-pity when they can't seem to make anything work.

But now things are on the up and I'm slowly getting somewhere with both projects. However, I'm gonna have to be putting in heck-loads of work to make up for my dry spell, so any more Skeleton Duet chapters look a bit unlikely for a while. (That is until I decide that I'd rather be writing than earning a First in Graphic Design and let's face it, that will happen.)

Chapter 8 of Skeleton Duet

I am kinda meant to be waiting for my beta to recheck this, but I'm impatient and when I realised I hadn't posted anything since Tuesday I just had to act!

This chapter may well be one of my favourites so far. If you thought shit was going down in the previous chapter, then this one is gonna make you realise it's only just begun. In fact, I probably should've mentioned before I started posting this story, it's not really for kiddies. I wouldn't know how to rate it though, because aside from the occasional cursing and violence it probably won't seem that bad. Could go with a 15+, like they do in the movies. Yeah, let's go with that.

Anyway, without further ado, here's the chapter. Enjoy!

Chapter 7 of Skeleton Duet

Hi there. I went to the gym today for the first time in ages and now my body nor my brain appear to be working. But at least I had my lovely beta Jo to give me feedback tonight. This probably wouldn't be up until tomorrow if it weren't for her. If then.

Anyway this is a fun chapter. The plot thickens :)

For those who are curious

I have drawn a map of the Kimony Isles (well, for the second time) and it may help with understanding a little more about the geography in A Skeleton Duet. I don't pretend to know a lot about maps and geography stuff, but I did once read a great tutorial by a guy who did and therefore this drawing is halfway credible.

Yeah... The general idea is that they once existed as one big island and then split into several after a big volcanic explosion or just by general sea-level rising. Take your pick, I'm not that bothered really.

Chapter 6 of Skeleton Duet

Yesterday was a busy day. I think it was the most studious I've felt so far this year. It did mean, however, that I couldn't put up chapter six as quickly as I'd wanted to. Well, that was probably the fault of me going out last night dressed as Catwoman, but you know...

Enough with the obscure life references! Here's chapter six. It's quite a short chapter (like only three and a bit pages on Word) but I think it works. My brain kinda works in scenes, so once a scene is over that's the end of the chapter as far as I'm concerned. Bit weird, but oh well.

Chapter 5 of Skeleton Duet

I'm lagging with putting these chapters up, I know, but uni workload has just picked up an awful lot so the laggyness will probably increase to something like once a week. It's sad :( I wish I could just write all day every day at the moment and it's really not helping me finish my degree in style.

May start putting up some of my uni work stuff on here. Rest assured it will still be creative.

Anyways, this chapter is more in the works than the previous ones I've put up, so it may change at some point. I like it a whole lot more than the next one I'm working on so... yeah. I'm sorry, my brain is addled by energy drink and I'm on a serious come down so words aren't working so well.

Chapter 4 of Skeleton Duet

Here's a fun little fact for you, I've just discovered I've written one more chapter than I thought on this story because I accidentally titled two chapters as chapter 5. I don't know why but this for some reason excites me quite a lot. It really shouldn't.

Incidentally, I've just finished watching Darker than Black, a pretty cool anime, but the ending aggravated me an awful lot because there were so many questions it didn't answer that I now feel compelled to read the manga, Bones, which it's based on. But it's pretty good inspiration for the action chapters in Skeleton Duet, which I find harder to write for.

That kind of has nothing to do with this chapter, which has like no action in it, but it's still pretty tense. (She says hopefully) Click on the link to read more.

Chapter 2 of Skeleton Duet

Well, I hope you read and liked the first chapter. I now have two beta readers and I feel chuffed to have them. Only one of them has given me the feedback so far, which means I may update this later, but I thought I'd put it up anyway because I do love feedback :)

There isn't really any plot development in this chapter but I guess it's one of those necessary ones that would leave a massive plot-hole if they were left out. It gets much more exciting in the next chapter - or at least I think it does.

In case you were wondering...

I thought I'd put up some sketches of what the main character(s) of my story looks like. These are just some of my drawings of Hades, because I'm somewhat obsessed with drawing him, but I'm waaay more obsessed with drawing the other character Talon. He's the one with long dark hair in the sketches. He'll be appearing in the story real soon.

There's this thing I've been writing...

And it's getting to a point where people could actually start reading it, which is like OMG so exciting. Trust me, I mostly write meaningless drabbles. Anyways, it centres around two characters of mine, for who I mostly have their life story planned out. It takes place on a kind of parallel-world where creatures that can wield magic are oppressed in society, and have to hide their identities from humans. It's not a new concept I know, but hopefully the way I execute it will be, or at least it will be entertaining for people. So without further ado, bring on chapter one!

Hi there!

I guess a quick little intro is in order. I mean, obviously you can get the basic info about me in the side bar, but this is just to kind of inform/warn you what sort of stuff I might be posting.

Umm, so yeah, this blog is going to mainly be used to vent my creativeness in any way I see fit. I've been yearning for a while for a place to put things, such as sketches, stories, and the general sort of unfinished ideas. Then I, and hopefully other interested people, can go back and see how my wonderful brain has developed over time.

My aim is to not hold back, so I guess maybe there will be some crazy ideas, and maybe some ideas that may offend people, but whatever, you have been warned.

It remains mainly dormant because I decided it was a bit lame that I just kept on uploading unfinished sketches. But it still has some nice stuff on it, so yeah, go look, and by the time you come back, there should be some awesome on this blog.
